Mundos is owned and operated by the Clark family.
A dream that began in 1994 finally began to take shape in 2014 through a life changing cup of coffee. That cup led to a full on pursuit of excellent coffee. After learning from others and purchasing a small commercial roaster, Dan began roasting coffee in his garage in 2016. He was able to develop his craft while selling coffee to friends and neighbors. Dan’s son, Jack, was right by his side learning and roasting some coffee himself. It wasn’t long before the whole Clark family was a part of the operation. Roasting coffee in the garage wasn’t enough. The real dream was coffee in community. That’s why we opened our first cafe in 2017. Since then, Mundos has steadily expanded, offering unique experiences across multiple locations in Traverse City. We are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to share our love and passion for coffee and community with you all!
Here’s how it all began:
In our coffee lab, we are continuing our mission of raising the bar through coffee education. In our roastery, we are growing our wholesale partnerships with folks who love coffee! As a team, we are looking forward to the future!
As a company, we are committed to raising the bar in excellence while striving to elevate all those involved in the process. We start with paying farmers well for exceptional coffees. Paying higher prices for outstanding coffees encourages better practices and ultimately increases the value of their crop year over year. This is a system we love and is a win for everyone involved. We all get to enjoy amazing coffee, and farmers have the ability to support their families and reinvest in their farms. We meticulously roast our coffee to exacting profiles showcasing the farmer, origin and terroir of that particular coffee. Each coffee has a unique story to tell, and we consider ourselves last in line to present the hard work of many people.
Our pastries are made in house from scratch and are baked fresh each morning. We make all our syrups and chai from scratch in house to exacting standards. We use local ingredients in our food menu whenever possible. There are so many local farms doing great things with organic produce in our area. We want to showcase their efforts whenever we can.
As a company, we are committed to loving others outrageously. This starts with a genuine love and care for others throughout our culture and team. We love because we are loved. We welcome others because we have been welcomed. Our desire is to make a difference in our community and our world. Loving people outrageously happens in many different ways. We love others by our interactions. We love others by listening. We love others by serving. We love others by delivering excellence. We love others by sourcing incredible coffees. We love others by creating and maintaining spaces to grow community.
